Ikea plans first Colo store in Denver suburb
CENTENNIAL, Colorado ” Ikea says it plans to open its first Colorado store in the Denver suburb of Centennial.
The Swedish home furnishings retailer said Wednesday that it is submitting plans to the city for a 400,000-square-foot store with 1,700 parking spaces, about 15 miles south of downtown Denver.
Ikea says it expects the store to employ about 400 people, and the construction phase could create 500 jobs.
The opening date hasn’t been determined yet.
Ikea has about 280 stores in 36 countries, including 35 in the U.S.
Other new U.S. stores are planned in Charlotte, N.C.; Somerville, Mass.; and Tampa, Fla.
The closest existing stores for Colorado customers are in Draper, Utah, and Tempe, Ariz.
