‘Imagination Station’ will soon open in Vail
VAIL – The Youth Services division of the Vail Recreation District will soon open the Imagination Station “learning loft” in the upstairs part of the district’s youth center in the Lionshead parking structure. The new facility, expected to open early this summer, will provide what backers call “a fun and intellectually stimulating” place to play for kids ages 2 through 10. “Our challenge is to create exhibits where kids will engage, observe, wonder and question,” says Chad Young, youth services coordinator for the district.Current plans include a toddler discovery area, a dramatic play area, and exhibits including the science of sound, optics, mechanics and kinetics, electricity and magnetism. The Vail-based district had help from several agencies in opening the Imagination, including Eagle County, Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival and local school teachers. The county grant was for $10,000 for exhibits and activities and the rec district is looking for help filling the museum.
