Indulge yourself for cheap
Vail, CO, Colorado
Off season for Tricia Swenson means dressing up and hitting the town for a fancy dinner for girl’s night done cheap.
” I love the restaurant deals. I usually hit up Terra Bistro, and I’ve gone to Frites and Grouse Mountain Grill.
At Grouse, Swenson splurges on the pork chops, she said.
Swenson’s in luck ” the pretzel-crusted pork chops, with orange mustard sauce and balsamic glaze is one of the entree options for Grouse’s off-season special. The Grouse’s whole menu is available for the three-courses for $34 special that starts April 24.
Another closing day on Vail Mountain is behind us and that can mean only one thing: discounted food, spa services and ski and snowboard equipment across the valley.
Participate in The Longevity Project
The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.
And this spring, Swenson’s not going to be able to get out of town except for her “10th wedding of the year,” she joked. So instead, she’s plans on spending a night at Cordillera where she’ll spring on a massage (which are 30 percent off now through May 25) and dinner at Mirador (entrees are two-for-the-price-of-one).
“It’s like taking a little vacation in my own backyard,” she said. “You’re not paying for airfare so you might as well spend it on yourself.”
Kristin LeFevre, 24, is a server at Main St. Grill in Edwards and grew up in the valley. She always looked forward to off season as a child, she said, and she still does.
“That’s when my parents would bring the family out to eat. Off season is when we got to go to all of the good places,” LeFevre said.
Besides Main St., she said her favorite special is Juniper’s 50 percent off entrees.
“I generally just look in the paper and see who is having specials. I usually only make it to one or two though just because I spend most of my time here,” she said.
Going out to dinner two or three times a week during off season is pretty standard for Edwards resident Sunny Davis and her friends, she said.
“Sweet Basil usually ends up doing their three course meal deal and La Tour usually has a special. Those aren’t restaurants I go to all the time but I go during off season.”
