Invesco stadium worker facing theft charges

DENVER – Denver prosecutors charged the general manager for the concessionaire at Invesco Field at Mile High with felony theft for allegedly stealing $300,000 from the company.

Michael Drew Sweeny worked for Centerplate, a concessionaire at the stadium.

Investigators say in an arrest affidavit released this week that Sweeny submitted numerous fraudulent invoices to Centerplate and also allegedly stole cash from the company vault.

Prosecutors say the 31-year-old stole more than $300,000 and attempted to steal another $30,000.

Sweeny surrendered on an arrest warrant this week and is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on May 18.

A listed phone number for Sweeny could not be found.
