It really is all about you

Catherine Zeeb

First keep the peace within yourself, then you can also bring peace to others.Thomas A. Kempis

Say this to yourself Its all about me. Its all about me. Its all about me. How did that feel? This is hard for most people to say. Most of us were not raised to say it, let alone believe it. We were taught that if its not about them, then were being selfish. Your healing, your spiritual beliefs, your religious beliefs and your gratitude are all about you. To truly heal your life and begin to do your spiritual work, let go of caring what others think about the work you will be doing that you need to do. Your friends and family may support you, and they may not. Your work is not about them. Think about this: An artist doesnt ask for approval from others before painting a masterpiece. They do what they know must be done, what they must produce, only for themselves. Their creation comes out of their internal creativity. You will shine from within as a result of your internal spiritual work. You are worth the time and energy to care for your soul. Its a beautiful thing to look good and to dress well, but does the way you look on the outside truly reflect the way you feel on the inside? If your internal conversation has you living confused, depressed or disconnected to spirit but you look good on the outside, you are not truly caring for your soul. When we feel good inside, we will shine on the outside no matter what dress or style we portray. How do we take care of our soul? There are many methods, practices, philosophies and beliefs to help you do this. There is my favorite: conscious breath. There is meditation, prayer, yoga, tai chi, walking, stillness, silence and any practice in which you stop long enough to recognize the constant internal conversation in your head. A practice is not the complete answer or the end-all to the changes in your life. Your decision that you want something to be different in your life is the beginning of your work. A practice may help you on your way.A good practice will teach you to release any energy that does not serve you. But it is not the practice that will work; it is your commitment to your soul. A practice gives us something to do humans seem to need that. In the hustle-bustle of every day, we forget to stop long enough to take a breath with intention, let alone realize we need to pay attention and make changes to the constant conversation in our heads. You are worth loving. You are unique. You are worth remembering the truth of your spirit and of your connection to your higher power. Its OK that you forgot what you are connected to for a period of time. It can change in an instant. When will it begin for you?No one needs to know of the work you have chosen to do. When you begin to feel the work you are doing, you will then begin to show that work, that light, to others. It will be a natural progression of your work. Then the work, the light, will shine into your families, the workplace, your life and your world. It is not selfish to do your work because your spiritual work will help them in the long run. By taking good care of your soul, others will benefit, and you will give from a very powerful place within you.It all begins with you and it is all about you.Catherine Zeeb holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in metaphysics.
