Congratulations to Bianca Gordon and Kelsey Ferguson of Vail Mountain School for being selected as Vail Youth Ambassadors for 2006 by the Vail Valley Exchange. They will be hosting two Australian students this winter and then traveling to Australia this summer. Best to them.

The Battle Mountain High School dance team will be waiting tables at the Mustang Bar & Grill in Edwards on Friday to raise money to attend the National Dance Competition in Orlando, Fla.”Our goal is to fill the restaurant the entire evening,” said head coach Pam Vigil. “It’s a wonderful restaurant, with great food and atmosphere. We hope people will come out for a good meal and a good cause.”The dance team will also host a small silent auction that night, with money raised also going into the kitty for the Orlando trip. A $10 donation is appreciated.Girl talkThe Valley View Hospital Foundation is sponsoring a “Physician’s Speaker Series” talk Thursday at 6:30 pm at the community room in the Eagle Valley Public Library, 600 Broadway in Eagle. The speaker is Dr. Mary Glode, who will talk about “What Every Woman Should Know: The Pap Smear and HPV.”

CarnivalA little taste of Venice is coming to the Vail Valley. Join the Vilar Center Junior Guild on Saturday at 6 p.m. for a Carnival di Venezia, taking place at the Vilar Center in Beaver Creek. You will enjoy all the sights and sounds of one of the most unique carnivals in the world. Don a carnival mask or purchase one at the door. An art auction will also take place. All proceeds will directly benefit the Junior Guild, whose mission is to promote awareness and enthusiasm about the arts in our community. For ticket information, call the box office at 845-TIXS.



Ring that bell!The Vail Valley Salvation Army is looking for a few good volunteers.The local charity is looking for people to coordinate the annual holiday bell-ringing campaign, people to coordinate bell-ringing at individual stores and people to work at the Holiday Cabin.The Salvation Army is also very much in need of someone to coordinate all of the food drives and other holiday activities for the Christmas concert.To learn more, call 926-3704.
