It’s time Vail took a stand
I applaud the town for finally taking a stance against Vail Resorts and their refusal to remove the deed restriction on the Lionshead Parking Structure. It’s obvious that Vail Resorts is again acting in their own selfish interest so they can “go first” on their development. Vail Resort’s alleged excuse of “concern for parking “is a joke when one considers that the ski companyhas caused the parking problem in the first place and is now using it to hold up a much-needed billion dollar improvement for the town.
Ever Vail and the Lionshead parking redevelopment are absolutely linked in many ways, including parking, employee housing, frontage road redevelopment and most importantly timing. The idea that the town’s stance is some type of extortion is ridiculous given all of the facts.
A question for Mr Katz ” exactly how much money will it cost you to let the Lionshead development go forward versus what will it cost the town and its citizens if it doesn’t? Isn’t it possible to have a win-win here?
