Jacob, Isabella most popular baby names
DENVER ” Coloradans love Jacob. A lot.
For the 11th consecutive year, Jacob was the most popular in the state, according to the Colorado health department.
Isabella was the most popular choice among girls’ names.
Of the more than 71,000 babies born in Colorado in 2006, 338 were named Jacob and 318 were named Isabella.
The last time a name other than Jacob topped the boys list, it was Michael in 1995. Michael is eighth on the 2006 list, behind Jacob, Ethan, Alexander, Joshua, Noah, Logan, and Andrew. Daniel and Benjamin rounded out the top 10.
Emily was second on the girls list last year, followed by Emma, Hannah, Abigail, Sophia, Madison, Ava, Olivia, and Samantha.
In 2005, Isabella was fifth and Emily was first.
Neveah and Elijah were the most popular names among black babies. Ashley and Jose were top two names for Hispanic babies.
Less common names among Coloradans include Briar, Clover, Dahlia, Juniper, Magnolia, and Poppy for girls and Beckham, Bode, Carmelo, Kobe and Peyton for boys.
