Jacqueline Celia (Jackie) McGuire, 53, formerly of Rockville, Minn., passed from this world to the next on Saturday in Pagosa Springs, Colo.

She was born to Marie and the late Ervin Skaja on May 28, 1956, in St. Cloud, Minn., as the fourth of seven children. She graduated from the University of Minnesota, class of 1981.

Jackie married Charles D. (Chuck) McGuire in Kremmling, Colo. in June ,1995. There, she managed two nearby retail outlet stores until entering the banking profession in 1997. After moving to the Arizona desert in 1999, she worked with Century Bank, then Harris Trust Bank, until she and Chuck returned to Colorado (Pagosa Springs) in 2003.

Once settled, Jackie worked as a commercial loan assistant with First Southwest Bank, before being promoted to commercial lender and assistant vice president. During her tenure at the bank, she developed many relationships with local business owners seeking capital for their respective endeavors.

An outdoor and flyfishing enthusiast, Jackie was a founding member of the Ladies in Wading flyfishing club. She served as president of the local Kiwanis Club and was appointed to the Archuleta County Education Center board of directors. As a lover and keeper of domestic pets, she was a faithful member of the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs.

Aside from fishing, Jackie enjoyed hiking, camping, four-wheeling, snowshoeing, gardening, reading and caring for her many household plants. She particularly enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Jackie is survived by her husband; mother Marie Skaja, of Rockville; son Jeff Theis (Katie Koloski), of St. Cloud; stepson Tim McGuire (Jennifer), of Avon; sister Judy Taufen (Ron), of Parshall, Colo.; brothers Joe Skaja, of Dumont, N.J., Tim Skaja (Deb), of Ramsey, Minn., Wade Skaja (Cheryl Lightle), of St. Cloud, Steve Skaja (Karen), of Minneapolis, and Scott Skaja (Ann), of Columbia Heights, Minn.; numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws; and two beloved cats, Fraser and Bob.

Jackie was preceded in death by her father, Ervin Skaja, of Rockville.

Cremation is planned, and a modest memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Pagosa Lakes Property Owners Association Clubhouse, 230 Port Ave., Pagosa Springs. The entire community, which Jackie so loved, is welcome, and anyone wishing to offer a sentiment is encouraged to do so.
