Jail brawl ends badly for everyone in Eagle County

EAGLE, Colorado ” A 22-year-old inmate of the Eagle County Detention Facility in Eagle, Colorado suffered a laceration and injuries to his face from a pounding delivered by a fellow inmate for telling on him, the sheriff’s report said, on Feb. 4.
The report said the altercation broke out early that morning, when the young inmate was in the day room of the jail and the alleged 27-year-old assailant left his cell and went straight for the tattler, who then ran to his cell. As he was trying to hit the emergency call button for help, he told deputies the angry inmate scratched his right bicep. The jail camera shows the man chasing the tattler into his cell and punching him repeatedly in the face until deputies arrived to break it up.
The sheriff’s report said the man beat up the other inmate because he sprayed water on him the night before, and the tattler threatened to tell jail staff about it. But an account from another inmate said it was different ” that the tattletale sprayed the older inmate while in his cell.
The inmate also said the man who was beat up is always harassing inmates and never shuts up. The evidence was mounted against the assailant, though, and he was summonsed with a bunch of charges ” third-degree assault, menacing, first-degree burglary, criminal mischief, escape, obstruction of telephone services and harassment.
