Jail inmates caught with paint thinner in Eagle County
Eagle County, CO Colorado
EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado ” Four Eagle County jail inmates got in trouble for huffing paint thinner.
Eagle County Detentions Facility staff contacted police after finding two plastic bags filled with paint-thinner-soaked rags in a room of the jail, an Eagle County Sheriff’s Office Report said.
Four inmates confessed to sniffing the paint thinner to get high, police said.
The inside of the detention facility was being painted at the time of the incident, which took place on May 17, the report said. The inmates who sniffed the paint thinner said they got it from another inmate who had been involved in the painting.
The four inmates were charged with abusing toxic vapors. One of those inmates faces additional charges for introducing contraband.
The sentencing panel decides the extent of the punishment.
A survey showed a good bit of support for local government action to bolster workforce housing in town. For now though, that support stops at supporting a new tax for funding.
