VAIL — James Jensen returns to Masters Gallery in Vail this weekend, bringing a new collection continuing in his newfound inspiration: combining materials such as wood, gold leaf, oil, acrylic, fabrics and distressed metal.

Since the industrial revolution, industrial materials have surrounded us and become mundane. Steel, iron, stone and wood — these are materials that define our times, Jensen said. Continually working within his craft, the artist exudes a love of life, spirit and color through his canvases.

Creative Hands

"I hope that in creative hands, steel becomes seductive, wood is uncommon and colorful paint, well, the joy of paint is my domain," he said.

Masters Gallery in Vail will host a reception with Jensen today and Saturday, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the gallery, located on East Meadow Drive in Vail Village. For more information, call 970-477-0600 or visit http://www.mastersgalleryvail.com.
