James Niketh passed away Jan. 19 in East Vail

James Richmond Niketh passed away in his sleep Jan. 19 at his East Vail home.

He courageously and graciously went through a year of treatments, and the family gives its heartfelt thanks for Hospice of The Valley for all its support.

Jim received his Bachelor of Science in journalism and did post-graduate work in regional planning at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. He worked for over 20 years as fleet manager at Lakewood Ford in Denver.

He loved traveling and his life in Vail – skiing, biking over Vail Pass and spending time with his multitude of friends.

He is survived by his sister, Carol Landeck; his niece, Merryl Landeck; and his nephew, Evan Landeck.

He was a sweet and loving man who will be dearly missed.

There will be a memorial service next summer in Vail, which will be announced in the paper later. In lieu of memorial flowers, please send any donations to Colorado Neurological Institute, care of MaryCatherine Moss, 701 E. Hampden Ave., Suite 330, Englewood, CO 80113, or to the Humane Society of your choice, as Jim’s dogs were the love of his life.
