Jens Voigt claims stage win in Beaver Creek

BEAVER CREEK, Colorado – German cyclist Jens Voigt of team RadioShack-Nissan-Trek was first across the finish line today in Stage 4 of the USA Pro Challenge.

Voigt broke away from the peloton soon after the riders left Aspen, and he was able to hold his lead throughout the rest of the race. He crossed the finish line in Beaver Creek several minutes ahead of second-place rider Andreas Kloden.

American Tejay van Garderen reclaimed the yellow jersey with his third-place finish.

Christian Vande Velde, who raced with the yellow jersey today, lost the jersey but still has the same overall time as van Garderen.

Levi Leipheimer was fourth, and remains eight seconds back in the general classification.

Today’s 97-mile stage began in Aspen and had 7,740 feet of climbing, including Independence, Tennessee and Battle Mountain passes.

All road closures have now been re-opened
