Jim Allen, Vail Valley resident, 1935-2011
Vail, CO Colorado
On June 23, Jim Allen, loving husband, father, and dear friend to many, passed away surrounded by family and friends. He went peacefully as Barbie, Matthew, Karen and others guided him to heaven, saying prayers and singing hymns all the while.
Jim’s 75 years were overflowing with everything life had to offer. Many people know of his accomplishments in the business community, yet that only portrays a fraction of who Jim was as a person. His participation on numerous nonprofit boards, and, most important, his commitment to family, reflected his zest for life and insatiable curiosity.
As CEO of the Vail Valley Jet Center, he was able to combine his visionary talents with his love of flying. His time with the Youth Foundation was a testament to his resolve to help kids realize their full potential and get a good start in life. Every board he served on, everything he did, was done with sincerity, and was an extension of his incredibly vibrant and loving personality.
Jim was a blessing to so many people. He changed and influenced lives forever. His wit and intelligence, compassion and love for others will be sorely missed by all. His legacy will live on through the fond memories of his friends and family.
There will be a memorial service held July 11 at 11 a.m. at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail to celebrate Jim’s life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent any of the following:
• Calvary Chapel of Vail Valley, P.O. Box 979, Avon, 81620, or http://www.ccvv.org;
• The Youth Foundation, P.O. Box 2761, Edwards, 81632, or http://www.theyouthfoundation.org;
• Or the charity of your choice.
