Jim Herman

Jim Herman, a Vail Valley resident for 15 years, passed away suddenly while vacationing in Las Vegas. He was a familiar face as the managing director of Restaurant Avondale. A long-term, valued team member at Savory Group, Jim Herman’s friends and colleagues are mourning his tragic death.

His career in restaurants started in his home town, Plymouth, Mass. Upon moving to Vail, he was part of the opening team of Larkspur Restaurant in 1999. Jim helped spearhead the Restaurant Avondale project at the Westin Riverfront Resort and Spa from its inception. Over the years, he made many enduring contributions to the company; he was the visionary of Avondale’s legendary Friday Afternoon Club.

Jim Herman loved his family, friends, music and the Red Sox. His unmistakable Boston accent let you know he was never too far from his roots. Jim took pride in being a member of his community, and he will be missed by many.

Restaurant Avondale will be closed today. A celebration of life will be planned, with details coming soon.
