EDWARDS, Colorado – Take part in Cocktails and Canvas for a Cause, supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, today at 6:30 p.m.

The Alpine Arts Center in Edwards has added Cocktails and Canvas to their calendar this summer every Wednesday night (and occasional Saturdays). The series features a different type of painting each week, with attendees given a step-by-step demonstration of the featured acrylic painting by an instructor. After being guided through the painting, each guest will leave with their own unique masterpiece on stretched canvas ready to display. Canvases, brushes, paints, easels, and aprons are included, and beer and wine and snacks can be purchased at the bar throughout the night. The price of this class is $40 per person.

For tonight’s event, Alpine Arts Center owner Lauren Merrill has agreed to donate a portion of the proceeds to support local Sarah Franke in a fundraising initiative for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Franke has been chosen by the Colorado Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to be honored at a special event this fall, recognizing outstanding young professionals in their community. As a part of the Colorado’s Finest Campaign, she has committed to help raise funds and awareness for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in an effort to support its mission of finding a cure for cystic fibrosis

At a kick-off event for the Colorado’s Finest campaign, Franke met an incredible woman who shared the story of her younger sister that recently passed away due to complications from the disease at age 14. As the disease progressed, her sister wasn’t able to participate in sporting activities and as a result focused on and loved art. After hearing Maddy’s story, Franke said, “It made me very excited about this partnership with the Alpine Arts Center and I look forward to paying tribute to her with this first fundraising effort.”
