June busiest for real estate

VAIL, Colorado Eagle County saw $188 million in real estate sales in June, which amounts to 57 percent of sales for the same month last year.About one-third of that dollar volume was from the Arrabelle at Vail Square project in Lionshead, according to numbers released Friday by Trevor Theelke of Land Title Guarantee Co. in Eagle.With 172 sales transactions for June this year, it was the busiest real-estate so far this year.Eagle saw the most activity, with 24 sales for the month. In Lionshead, there were 17 transactions, 16 of which were at the Arrabelle.Just over $1 billion in real estate sales have been recorded so far this year. This years total is down 67 percent compared to 2007.Vail bear campaign wins award DAILY STAFF REPORTVAIL Vails bear awareness campaign has received an award for creativity in a marketing competition.The campaign was launched during the spring of 2007 and includes a caricature of a bear with the words Get a Nicer Can.Designed by Hill & Company Integrated Marketing & Advertising of Edwards, the work is the recipient of a Summit Creative Award in the public service announcement logo category.The award will be presented to the town by agency representatives Linda Hill and Tim Campbell during the Vail Town Councils meeting tonight.The campaign was created following town approval of a wildlife protection ordinance that requires bear-resistant and/or bear-proof containers for residential and commercial use.Since the campaign was launched, the town has seen compliance climb to as high as 90 percent in the neighborhoods.The Summit Creative Awards recognize the creative accomplishments of small and medium-sized advertising agencies and other creative groups.
