VAIL — After taking several weeks off to record and tour with their other projects, the members of Juno What?! (featuring Joey Porter, of The Motet) return for a weekend run of shows, including a stop in Vail tonight at Shakedown Bar.
Juno What?! is a dance party based in Denver. This three-piece powerhouse delivers a mix of live electro-funk and high-energy disco booty jams.
The band formed in 2008 as an outlet for Joey Porter’s organic-meets-electronic dance compositions and since then has released three independent albums: “Late Night,” “Shameless” and “Late Night Live.”
Touring regularly since 2009, Juno What?! has shared the stage with funk luminaries The Ohio Players, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, The Pimps of Joytime, Lettuce and Bernie Worrell.
Classic vinyl meets futuristic anthems
Juno What?! audiences are treated to a band that appreciates both the classic pedigree of vintage vinyl dance cuts as well as futuristic sternum-bumping anthems.
The band consists of Joey Porter (keyboards, talk box), of The Motet; Tyrone Hendrix (drums), of Stevie Wonder’s touring band; and Steve Watkins (keyboards, bass, talk box and samples). This core group is often augmented by special guests taken from the best of the gigging groups on the scene, including founding member Dominic Lalli, of Big Gigantic.
Juno What?! will release its fourth album in late 2013 and is currently playing in major markets across the nation. Download the records for free at http://www.junowhat.net.
