Khris graduated from the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA) this spring and will attend Berklee College of Music in Boston in the fall. He began playing the alto at seven and played in a band known as McDonogh #15 Red Hot Jazz Band while in elementary school. Between the ages of eight and 17 he performed each year at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.

While at NOCCA he formed the Kristopher Royal Quartet that performed at private parties and events around New Orleans, including several editions of the Lundi Gras Celebration. Khris enjoys playing all kinds of music, but his favorite style is funk and enjoys taking standards and re-arranging them with hip-hop rhythms. He favorite sax players are Kenny Garrett, Donald Harrison and Antonio Hart.
