Kickball Classic and Pancake Breakfast celebrating 15 years

Special to the Daily |
EAGLE-VAIL — The Evans Chaffee 15th annual Kickball Classic takes place Aug. 13 and benefits the junior chapter of Canine Companions for Independence.
The day will again include a pancake breakfast at the fields by the pavilion in Eagle-Vail as well as the kickball tournament to follow. Canine Companions for Independence is a new organization in the valley that helps children and veterans by providing service dogs free of charge.
The first Kickball Classic was dreamed up in 2002 by Chris and Michele Evans after reminiscing about the kickball game held at their wedding rehearsal. They wanted a fun way to gather people for a cause. The Eagle County Women’s Shelter was the first beneficiary.
“I can’t believe it has been 15 years,” said Jessica Halminski, of Evans Chaffee Construction Group. “We are grateful to the community that has supported our event for so many years and also the amazing folks that run the programs that we have had as beneficiaries.”
