Kid Rock to play Vail next month
VAIL ” Kid Rock will rock Ford Park next month.
Organizers of the Spring Back to Vail festival inked a deal Tuesday to bring the Detroit rock-blues-country-rap artist to Vail on April 14.
“He just covers a lot of genres and is just a wild man on stage, known for producing one of the best live shows in the business,” said Jeff Brausch, president of Highline Sports and Entertainment, which produces the festival. “We’re just really stoked to have him coming to Vail.”
Kid Rock, whose real name is Bob Ritchie, released a live album, “Live Trucker,” last February. The singer is flying in to Colorado just for this show, and it’s not part of a bigger tour, Brausch said.
The concert will follow the World Pond Skimming Championship earlier that afternoon.
All of the spots for competing in pond skimming are already filled, Brausch said.
There also will be a free concert at Crossroads on April 7 featuring Third World, Brausch said.
Kid Rock ticket prices will be announced Wednesday, and tickets will go on sale in the next few days online and around town.
Last year’s headliner was G. Love and Special Sauce. In 2005, headliner Snoop Dogg brought 10,000 attendees to Ford Park.
Brausch said he wasn’t sure if this show will be bigger than the Snoop Dogg concert.
“I think time will tell,” he said.
