Kids can learn volleyball in Vail

VAIL –The Vail Recreation District will host a variety youth volleyball camps this summer, beginning with the Youth Volleyball Skills Camp in June, followed by the new Rocky Mountain Beach Volleyball Camp in July and ending with the new Rocky Mountain Volleyball Camp in August.
Registration is underway for all three camps and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Volleyball Skills Camp: Colorado State University Head Volleyball Coach Tom Hilbert will lead participants in individual skills training during the three-day camp. Grades second through sixth will meet from 8 to 9:15 a.m. and grades seventh through 12th will meet from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Costs are $160 for grades seventh through 12th and $60 for grades second through sixth. • Rocky Mountain Beach Volleyball Camp: A new camp for players who are looking to either learn the sport of beach volleyball or improve their skills. Players will be grouped according to ability with a maximum of 10 players per coach. The camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for grades nine through 12th and cost $125 per player. Grades six through eight will play from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and cost is $75 per player. July 6-8, Sand Courts at the Vail Athletic Field, Vail
• Rocky Mountain Volleyball Camp: Rocky Mountain Volleyball Camp is designed to prepare kids for middle or high school volleyball seasons. Head coaches from Vail Mountain School, Eagle Valley High School and Battle Mountain High School will lead participants through skills sessions, strategies and tactics of the game of volleyball. Athletes will be divided by ability and will work with all coaches throughout the camp. The final day will be spent playing volleyball games. Grades ninth through 12th will practice from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and grades fifth through eighth will practice from noon to 2 p.m. Costs are $135 for grades ninth through 12th and $100 for grades fifth through eighth.
