Kids’ Fun Zone offers activities in Lionshead
VAIL — There are numerous family-oriented events and activities throughout the two weeks of the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, and nowhere is the fun more kid-friendly than at Pete & Earl’s — 2015 Kids’ Fun Zone in Lionshead. The fun zone will be open on weekends: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and Feb. 13 and 14 from 1 to 4 p.m.
The Kids’ Fun Zone is hosted by the official mascots of the 2015 Alpine World Ski Championships — Pete, the mountain lion, and Earl, the raccoon. Pete and Earl will make special appearances throughout the event to say hello to kids. The Kids’ Fun Zone features free activities in a tent on the east end of the plaza in Lionshead toward the bus stop and parking structure.
The free activities inside the Kids’ Fun Zone include a large activity station called Creation Corner for kids to choose projects or imagine a work of art. The projects may include pinecone snowmen, pipe-cleaner skiers and snowboarders, snow measuring sticks, snowflake painting and create your own winter snow globe.
There will be live presentations throughout the event including Birds of Prey exhibits, visits by Pete and Earl, the 2015 cheerleaders, participatory drum circles, a parents’ Chill Zone, surprise autograph parties and contests for the whole family.
Holy Cross Energy is the presenting sponsor of the 2015 Kids’ Fun Zone with additional sponsorship from Kaiser Permanente and Vail Summit Orthopaedics.
