Kids qualify for geography competition
EAGLE – A first round of the 2005 National Geographic Bee will be held at Eagle Valley Middle School with the oral competition on Jan. 12 in the library. The winner of this local competition will advance to a written examination in which state competitors will be determined. All school champions are eligible to win the national championship. “The first prize of the national competition is a $25,000 scholarship,” says teacher Nicole Dewell. The national meet will be held on May 24-25 in Washington, D.C.
