Kids terrain park competition Sunday

BEAVER CREEK – Beaver Creek’s Park-ology program comes to a close this season with the First Annual Park-ology Championships , Sunday.The competition is open to beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders aged seven to 17. No prior terrain park experience is necessary. Three pairs of Mountain Dew skis, three Mountain Dew snowboards and other prizes will be awarded.”Because parks and pipes are a big part of the sport today, we see Park-ology as a unique vehicle to provide a safe, fun and educational introductory park experience for kids,” said Susan Baca, director of the Beaver Creek Children’s Ski and Snowboard School.The competition takes place at 1:30 p.m. in Beaver Creek’s beginner and intermediate Zoom Room terrain park, located at the top of the Golden Eagle run off of the Cinch Express Lift (#8). Children can arrive at the park starting at 1 p.m. for a trial run before the start of competition. Children enrolled in ski school can participate in the competition with their instructor. Instructors will supervise and judge the competition.Participants must register in person with a parent or legal guardian between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., Sunday, at Beaver Creek Children’s Ski and Snowboard School on Sunday.
