Kudos for Cropp
We are extremely fortunate to have a sports reporter of Ian Cropp’s caliber covering the athletic scene at Eagle Valley High School.
For the past several years I have enjoyed reading Ian’s columns on all of the sporting events, games and meets. He has a special talent for giving factual reports while maintaining a very positive attitude in his articles. Thus, even when a team loses he does not dwell on the fumbled ball, the strike-out, the botched kick or the bad serve that might have lost the game. Instead, he factually mentions these items, then goes on to report the good points at the athletic event and gives credit to the players. This is such an appropriate way to cover and report High School athletics and as the parent of an athlete I appreciate his sense of fairness.
Ian is always in attendance at the various events and braves the wind/snow/rain and freezing temperatures that sometimes occur along with the rest of us Eagle Valley fans. I know that he must also be putting in late nights after a game ends at 9 or 10 p.m. in order to make his reporting deadlines for the articles to appear in the Daily the very next morning.
I would hope to be enjoying Ian’s work for many years to come, but with his talent he may be destined for bigger and better things. Thank you, Ian, for your dedication and excellent sports reporting.
