KZYR, Teva launch Mountain games radio station

VAIL, Colorado – The Teva Mountain Games is going on the air with its own radio station.

The Teva Mountain Games and KZYR launched the internet radio station.

Listeners will get a blend of music, athlete interviews and opening ceremony artist Keller Williams.

“We have all the information and entertainment you need to follow and enjoy the Teva Mountain Games,” said the Zephyr’s Steve Leigh.

The station also includes calendars and schedules of events, event descriptions and Teva Mountain Game news.

The station works on all computer formats and browsers, and provides 24-hour programming.

“This is a one of a kind programming option,” said KZYR’s VP-Director of programming Tony Mauro. “Listeners will be treated to some great music, interspersed with insight on the games, as well as a multipart interview with Keller Williams.

“It’s the first event in the Vail Valley to have a 24-hour internet radio channel dedicated to it and we are thrilled to be part of its programming,” Mauro said.

The music is from the Teva Mountain Games musical anthologies.

For each of the TMG’s 10 years, the event organizers created an anthology of musical artists featured during the games – a Tevanthology. For obvious reasons, there are 10 – one for each of the Teva Mountain Games’ 10 years.

That’s the music you’ll hear on Teva Mountain Games Radio, along with music from artists such as Keller Williams, who’ll be featured on the station and at this year’s games.

“Technology now that enables us to create our own on-line radio station. We have the technology and talent in house to put something exceptional on the air,” said KZYR’s Tony Mauro. “The Teva Mountain Games is an excellent chance for us to launch this concept.”

The Teva Mountain Games is the country’s largest celebration of adventure sports, music, and the mountain lifestyle. It’s in Vail June 2-5.

Athletes compete in eight sports and 23 disciplines, including: x-country; freeride, slopestyle and road cycling; freestyle, 8-ball, sprint and extreme kayaking; World Cup bouldering; stand up paddling; sprint and surf cross; trail, mud and road running; dog competitions and the GNC Ultimate Mountain Challenge.

The Teva Mountain Games also includes a mountain photography competition, adventure film school, film festival, an interactive competition and demo area and live music.
