Claiming the best patio in Eagle Ranch, La Scala channels family-friendly Italian ambiance. Large wooden pillars break up the space, giving an Old World feel to the light and airy room.
The menu boasts big flavors that are distinctly Italian. From bruschetta to cioppino, the classics are all accounted for. In addition to a large selection of pastas with homemade sauces, Chef Mejia has such favorites as veal marsala, Milanese-style pork chop and chicken picatta. The fresh fish special changes daily.
The beef carpaccio is barely seared before it’s sliced paper thin. Livened with crispy capers and freshly ground pepper, the tender beef almost melts into the spicy arugula and parmesan salad. The butternut squash ravioli is a signature item, and is vaguely sweet and extremely decadent. Topped with a creamy sage sauce, crumbled amaretti cookies give a bit of crunch to the smooth dish.
Dynamic married duo Raoul Mejia and Jennifer Rizza co-own the restaurant. He’s is charge of all things culinary, while she manages the front of the house. They move in sync, and between the two of them attend to every aspect of their customers’ needs.
Open for lunch and dinner, the restaurant has live acoustic music on Thursday and Saturday nights.
