VAIL ” La Tour, a fine dining restaurant with French inspiration in Vail Village, is cooking up something sexy for Valentine’s Day ” a dinner inspired by edible aphrodisiacs

Award-winning Executive Chef Paul Ferzacca will prepare a multi-course Valentine’s Day menu Monday, which also can be accompanied with special aphrodisiac cocktails.– The specially-prepared menu features “love bites,” “love potions,” first course “dreams” second course “desires,” third course “passions,” and finally, “arrival,” or dessert.

Oysters and caviar are the love bites that start the meal. These gems from under the sea are known to stimulate because of their exciting texture.

The bar staff has gotten really creative offering Love Potion No. 9 Martini, prepared with wandering poet sake, rose water and fresh rose petal ($9), or choose the Godiva Chocolate Martini with Godiva chocolate liqueur, vanilla vodka and a chocolate stir stick ($9).

During the first course you can choose from asparagus wrapped in prosciutto arugula, pine nuts, aged balsamic and extra virgin olive oil; lobster and avocado salad, cucumber, tomato, cilantro, vanilla vinaigrette; or dungeness crab and mango salad Thai coconut granite. Asparagus, because of its phallic shape, is one of the more common food aphrodisiacs.

“Desires,” the second course, diners can choose seared diver scallop, edamame and black truffle butter; black cod and chilies steamed in banana leaves with red fresno, anaheim and pablano chilies; or seared foie gras with port wine poached figs compote hazelnut, cherry and chocolate rusk.

Exercise your “passion” by choosing one of the following for the third course: espresso crusted lamb loin pistachio and Mexican chocolate mole; pan roasted opaka paka (Hawaiian pink snapper) steamed artichokes, black truffles, champagne sabayon; or asparagus, wild mushrooms and Oregon white truffles soft polenta, parmigiano-reggiano, tomato truffle oil, basil oil.

You know you have “arrived” when you have tasted La Tour’s banana split for two, featuring vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream kahlua fudge sauce, caramel sauce, pineapple compote chantilly cream, candied walnuts, chocolate dipped strawberries white chocolate covered marichino cherries.

La Tour is located in the heart of Vail Village at 122 East Meadow Drive. The three course menu option is $57 and the four course option is $65 per person. The dinner starts at 5:30 p.m., call (970) 476-4403 for reservations.
