Lake Powell topic of water meeting

Daily Staff Report

Seven rapidly-growing Western states depend on the Colorado River for water, and how its finite supply will be shared is becoming increasingly important. At the center of it all is Utah’s Lake Powell and its 24.3 million acre-feet of storage. That will be the topic of the monthly and free Waterwise Wednesday meeting tonight from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Avon Public Library.Featured speaker will be Eric Kuhn of the Colorado Water Conservation District. Kuhn will talk about how drought has lowered Lake Powell to about one-third of its capacity and what that could mean to water users in Eagle County.Vail Colorado
