VAIL — Known for most of his fine art career as one of the finest painters of coaches, wagons and the teams of animals that pull them, Robert Pummill has now become one of the most sought after painters of Texas landscapes. All of Pummill’s paintings are conceived in his head and sketched out until the idea compositionally meets his standard. Once he starts on a canvas, it is all about creating a beautiful painting at the very highest level of fine art.

He will paint in the studio seven days a week. Pummill is a true master of his craft, so his mind is working on color and texture, losing edges and directing the viewer intentionally through the painting.

For the second year in a row, Claggett/Rey Gallery is hosting the collection “Paintings of the Historical West and Contemporary Landscapes,” which Pummill personally selected. The exhibit is on display now through July 15.

“To represent Bob Pummill at his peak of creativity is fabulous and we do not take this lightly. We are extremely pleased to have Pummill showcasing this incredible body of work at our gallery,” said Bill Rey, Claggett/Rey Gallery owner. “What Robert Pummill is creating today are legacy paintings. People will study this genre of painting for generations to come to better understand the land and the legacy of truly what is ‘Deep in the Heart of Texas.’”
