Special to the DailyLeftover Salmon will play at the new State Bridge in Bond on June 12 at the venue's grand reopening party.

Leftover Salmon will perform on June 12 at The New State Bridge Amphitheatre in Bond. The intimate Colorado riverside venue holds a considerable amount of history in the Colorado music scene and was the site of many memorable Leftover Salmon shows in the group’s early years. A devastating fire destroyed the property in 2007, but the venue will return this summer. Leftover Salmon will perform at the grand reopening party at The New State Bridge Amphitheatre. Tickets go on sale for fans today and to the public on Monday. The tickets are $35 in advance, $40 day of show. A limited number of VIP tickets will be available for $50. Visit http://www.statebridge.com.

The amphitheater officially opens its doors to the public on May 28, with Campout for a Cause. Look for a full story about the new State Bridge in Monday’s High Life section.

The sound of Colorado’s Leftover Salmon – made up of musicians Vince Herman, Drew Emmitt, Andy Thorn, Greg Garrison, Bill McKay and Wally Ingram – is unmistakable: fluid, loose-limbed, and simultaneously rootsy and daring. Fusing an unrivaled improvisational fervor to a dizzying combination of bluegrass, Cajun, funk, Southern rock, boogie, Caribbean, Latin, and jazz influences, Leftover Salmon has earned a legion of diehard fans, critical accolades, and a reputation as one of the most exciting, engaging concert experiences to ever hit the road.

In 2010, the group released a DVD, commemorating its 20-year tenure. On December 30 and 31, 2009, Leftover Salmon and Riffactory partnered to produce a live DVD of two sold-out performances at the historic Boulder Theatre in Boulder. Filmed in HD, this DVD celebrates the band’s full circle musical journey, which started on Dec. 31, 1989 when The Salmon Heads and Left Hand String Band decided to join together as one for a New Year’s show at the Eldorado Cafe in Crested Butte. There was a blue moon out that night, and it was back out for the 2009 shows as well, spurring the title of the new DVD – “Twice in a Blue Moon.” Included with the DVD is an MP3 download of the DVD’s audio as well as exclusive bonus tracks.

Through the course of the 20-plus years as a band, Leftover Salmon has performed music with such contemporaries as Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, David Grisman, Jerry Douglas, Del McCoury, Peter Rowan, Pete Wernick, Col. Bruce Hampton, Oteil Burbridge, Bill Payne, Darol Anger, Mike Marshall, Pete Sears, Todd Park Mohr, Tony Furtado, Theresa Anderson, along with members of the The String Cheese Incident, Widespread Panic, Yonder Mountain String Band and dozens of additional artists.
