Let’s all say grace
Do you believe there’s a God? If you do, you’re in good company! About 96% of Americans believe there is a “Higher Power” out there. But two questions that makes the debate more important are: “Who is God to you?” and “Do you believe in the power of God’s grace?” I am astounded every time I hear somebody proudly proclaim, “I’m an atheist!” Webster’s defines atheism as: “A denial of or a disbelief in the existence of God.” Do you realize the sheer arrogance of this statement? To say definitively that God does not exist is to intimate that atheists have an intellect that spans the known and unknown universe. Imagine the faith it takes to state you know everything!God does indeed exist, and He is who He says He is! While the Bible visibly supports the existence of God, our lives are far more profound proof of His reality. Lots of misconceptions exist about God, but, in my personal experience God has expressed Himself to me with His attributes, including: Compassion, Absolute Truth, Outrageous Love, and Merciful Judgment. God is all-knowing, all-powerful, and all-present on this planet, in this universe, and in my life. The Heavenly Father longs for each of us to know Him and experience His authenticity in our existence. But there is one trait of God Almighty I didn’t mention that I have found to be the most powerful proof of both His faithfulness to us and the legitimacy of His presence. That characteristic is Grace. I Timothy 1:14 illustrates Grace in this way: “The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with faith and love in Christ Jesus.” God’s grace is a free gift that accompanies faith, love, power, purpose, and eternal life. Because of His great love for us, God longs to lavish us with this Grace! Here is how grace can be defined in our lives:*G: God’s gift of salvation, given freely to you and specifically designed by God Himself.*R: Restoration– God’s immediate forgiveness restores our hearts, our lives, and all our relationships.*A: Acceptance of the gift of grace through Jesus Christ. *C: Confession of your sins; God knows all your choices and sent Jesus to set you free from your past.*E: Eternal Life: when you choose to believe and trust your life to Christ, your eternity is secure. The Bible tells us, “Jesus Christ rescued us from this evil world we’re in by offering Himself as a sacrifice for our sins. God’s plan is that we all experience that rescue!” Galatians 1:4. God’s heart for you and me is simple and profound all at once. He longs to administer His Grace to us, He wants to share the power of His blessings with us, and He can help us set our lives on the absolute best path for us both now and in eternity.Remember, the proof of God’s existence lies in these truths: God loves you and did whatever it took to redeem you. Look at what the Bible says:”In the beginning was the Word, & the Word was with God, & the Word was God…the Word became flesh & dwelt among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One & Only, who came from the Father, full of Grace & Truth.” John 1:1, 14″The proof of God’s amazing love is this: that while we were sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:6.Maybe it is outrageous that a Higher Power would send His Son to save us at the expense of His own life. Outrageous, but true. It can be difficult to believe the God who would love you with such an everlasting compassion that he never gives up on you. Sometimes I look in a mirror and wonder, but still believe this beyond any doubt. “It is by grace that I have been saved, through faith, and not of myself.” This certainty exists because the Lord loves me that much. In light of such great news, you musn’t deny this Love that transcends human intellect.Gary Wingo leads a gathering called Seekers Fellowship meeting at Colorado Mountain College in Edwards on Sundays at 6:30 p.m.Vail, Colorado
