Let’s not tell the truth

Don Rogers

Let’s not let inconvenient facts get in the way of good lefty ranting. Let’s not mention that Crawford protester Cindy Sheehan’s son, God rest his soul, volunteered for the service and re-volunteered to fight in Iraq. Let’s not acknowledge that this brave man believed in what his mother does not.Let’s not explain that Sheehan has already met with face to face with President Bush, as so few of us in our lifetimes get to chat once with a U.S. president.Let’s not trouble ourselves with the fact that the support for President Bush among the families of those serving in the military strongly support our efforts in Iraq. Let’s not show this opportunistic circus for the pathetic publicity-seeking gala it swiftly became for a whole lot of folks who could not care any less for Cindy Sheehan and her very personal grief. Sadly, Sheehan has become mainly a symbol for how far the hardcore left will stoop. Every bit as pathetic as the conservative publicity hounds swarming Terri Schiavo just months ago. It’s just wrong.Short of perpetuityThe ironical decision by open-space Commissioners Menconi and Runyon to make a homesite out of a designated park shows the temporary nature of such things. Today’s open space, without a conservation easement, might well be tomorrow’s development. Vail, Colorado
