Letter: 89 thank yous in Minturn
Vail CO, Colorado
I would like to personally send out a big thank you to the 89 citizens of Minturn who signed the referendum petitions. You did it.
I appreciate your time and the effort you took to personally sign each of the 11 referendum petitions. I enjoyed talking to each and everyone of you and getting your personal opinions on this.
You forced the Minturn Town Council to send the Ginn annexation to a vote. Voting day is set for Tuesday, May 20. If you are not registered to vote and would like to register, you must register by April 21. (Call Eagle County elections at 328-8715)
I would like to see the biggest turnout ever of Minturn voters on May 20.
Even if you did not sign the referendum petition, I want you to vote on this.
What the 89 people did was give the rest of us our democratic right to vote, please do not waste that right and make plans to vote.
Town Council did not listen to, or answer questions, of those of you that tried to talk to them during the Ginn comment period.
This referendum petition forces them to give us answers and forces them to listen. This referendum petition and vote is the strongest statement that we can make.
The public process they used was what was required of them legally, they had to have public comment time, but they did not have to really listen or answer questions, so they didn’t.
This will affect all of us and I want to know what the majority of Minturn Citizens think.
We will continue to give you more information on our Web site http://www.minturntimes.com as we get it.
