Letter: Endorsing Roxie Deane for Eagle council

Sonja Beasley
Eagle, CO Colorado

Politics! It seems we have so many decisions to make these days at all levels of government. In my opinion our very own town of Eagle election is just as important, or may be more so, than the nation’s presidential race.

Our growing small town will be facing many important decisions in the next couple of years, and it’s important that we have people with experience and common sense representing us. The people who will be making decisions for all of us in the near future should be people who genuinely care about Eagle and are invested in our future.

This letter is my endorsement for the candidate that I know cares about Eagle. Roxie Deane has shown herself to be a leader in our community for many years. I have known Roxie all of my life and have worked with her in many aspects. I worked with Roxie professionally for 12 years, we have co-chaired Eagle Flight Days for more years than I care to admit, and we have worked on numerous committees and projects together throughout the years. I have always found Roxie to be open-minded, fair, and hard working.

Even when we haven’t shared the same opinion (which hasn’t been that often), I have found her to be a listener and someone who thinks before acting. One thing I have always admired about her is that she is a collaborator. When I was on the town board I learned early on that by collaborating we could accomplish so much more. Whether it was Eagle County, Town of Gypsum, WECMRD, Eagle Valley Chamber of Commerce or a developer, if we work together everybody wins. Roxie usually finds a way for all parties involved to feel like winners. I have seen her do it time and time again.

I have already made one important decision in this political whirlwind of questions. I will vote for Roxie Deane. She cares about Eagle and is invested in our future. If you still haven’t made up your mind give her a call, find out what she is about, read her brochure and vote.
