Letter: Funds raised for Berry Creek
Berry Creek Middle School
The student athletes at Berry Creek Middle School would like to thank everybody who participated or volunteered at the Second Annual Berry Creek Middle School Cinco De Mayo 5k River Run held on Saturday May 3. A very special thanks to our sponsors: American National Bank, the Edwards Rotary Club and KZYR the Zephyr. Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped prepare and organize the run: Robert Cuevas, Dan Brennan, Amy Libertini, Christine Lundholm, Rich Holman, Mitch Foss and Brittany Bergin. We had 78 participants in all five categories.
Edwards Brittany Bergin won the competitive women’s division with a time of 25:34, Glenwood Springs Charlie Werthem won the competitive men’s division with a time of 18:19 and in the middle school division Berry Creek’s own David Suarez won with a time of 22:17. We would also like to thank Eagle County School Board Member Carrie Benway and Optic Nerve sunglasses for donating a pair of sunglasses for the winner in each category, and Berry Creek’s own shop teacher, David Scott, for the great first-place trophies for our winner. Overall it was a great event this year and we hope next year is even better. We raised more than $1,000 for our student athlete programs at Berry Creek and are very thankful for all who participated and helped out with this year’s run.
Hope to see you all again and even more of you at next years Cinco De Mayo River Run.
