Letter: Join the Vail Valley highway cleanup

Bob Moroney
Vail CO, Colorado

Now that most of the snow is disappearing and unveiling what six months of snow have been concealing, it time to clean up the community.

Gather up your friends at work, church, school, bike club, bowling league, golf buddies, hiking companions, Club 50 members, bridge club and join us in the Eagle River Watershed Council’s 9th Annual Community Pride Clean Up.

This is the largest community volunteer highway clean up in the entire country with more than 900 community volunteers covering the interstate and roadways from the top of Vail Pass all the way to Glenwood Canyon.

All we’re asking for is a few hours on Saturday, April 26 or any day this week. You can bike or golf or go to Moab or Lake Powell some other time this spring.

Set an example for your neighbors and your kids and get involved in your community.

You should be extremely proud to live in such an outstanding community that resolves issues by creating opportunities such as these and does not rely on our governments to solve our challenges for us. What a great legacy we’re creating.

If you are just visiting with us, you’re also welcome to join in.

There will be a super volunteer barbecue lunch following the cleanup at Lazy J Ranch in Wolcott.

To volunteer call Sue Mott at 926-3956.
