Letter: Thanks for a cleaner Eagle Co.

Sue Mott, volunteer coordinator
Eagle River Watershed Council

The Community Pride Highway Clean Up last Saturday was an awesome success. The weather was chilly and windy, but at least there was no snow. And more than 1,000 of you met with your team leaders to pick up your orange vests and bags and then hit the highways for another pickup: trash. There was lots and lots of that as seen by the huge number of bags sitting on the sides of the highways later that day.

I went up Highway 131 on Sunday and it seemed as though there was a bag every 10 feet. It’s unreal how litter accumulates.

Thank you for a great effort in keeping Eagle County clean and green!

This is an event that involves the entire valley and brings together people from all walks of life for a common environmental cause. Thanks to the Eagle River Watershed Council and all the sponsors for giving everyone this environmental opportunity.

Many many thanks to you all for you participation.
