Letter: Turn out for Eagle County highway clean up

Sue Mott
Volunteer Coordinator
Vail, CO Colorado

Although it is still a little early to think about spring, it is never too early to be concerned about how our valley will look when the snow melts. We all take pride in our community and the Eagle River Watershed Council is already planning the 2008 Community Pride Highway Clean Up. This year’s event will be Saturday, April 26. Clean up will be from 9 a.m. to noon, and the celebration barbecue will be from noon to 2 p.m. at the Lazy J Ranch in Wolcott.

Once again I will be the volunteer coordinator. My contact information is volunteer@erwsc.org; phone numbers: work – 845-5210, home – 926-3956. If you were a team leader previously and would like to be one again this year, please contact me.

CDOT tells us this is the largest highway clean up in the country! We clean I-70 from Vail Pass to Dotsero, Highway 6 from Dowd Junction to Dotsero, Highway 24 from Dowd Junction through Minturn to Red Cliff, and Highway 131 from Wolcott to McCoy. We have close to 1,000 volunteers take part in this great activity. If you have not been part of this event before, please get in touch with me to set you up with a team leader. We emphasize safety, community spirit and fun!

Please save the date: Saturday, April 26.
