Letters: Cranes are Vail’s bird

Compiled by Vail Daily staff

Cranes are Vail’s symbol

As the spokesperson for VVBWS (Vail Valley Bird Watching Society), we would like to thank the present and past Vail Town Council for their efforts in designating the crane as the official Town of Vail bird. What we have not been able to figure out, is how the Town Council has convinced the crane to do a reverse migration, so that sightings are more frequent this winter than in previous summers.

We would like to suggest that the Vail Town Council along with Vail Resorts work together to build permanent housing for the cranes, to help encourage them to stay in the Vail area year-round. We feel fellow birders will come to Vail to watch them in action and this could possible help the lodging industry to increase revenues during the shoulder seasons.

We hope that the Vail Town Council recognizes this opportunity and will address this issue during their next housing meeting with Vail Resorts.

Spirit of Christmas

On Saturday, Dec. 8, the Senior Citizens of Eagle were treated to a wonderful evening of food, entertainment, gifts and love by the members and friends of Rob and Lynn Bowles family. We truly appreciate the true spirit of Christmas that is shown by your kindness and consideration for those of us who are fortunate to be a part of your celebration of the perfect gift.

We hope that your family and friends are blessed this Christmas season.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness and consideration for the seniors of Eagle. God bless all of you.
