Letters: Lessons learned on Beaver Creek

Compiled by Vail Daily staff
Vail CO, Colorado

This past week some friends and I were skiing on Beaver Creek Mountain. It was going to be our last run of the day and we decided to cut the ropes. Bad idea. We went down and two kids in our group stayed high and we three went low, and before we knew it, we were lost. Our first mistake was that we didn’t stop; we kept hiking and skiing down deeper in. We called ski patrol and they finally found us.

The moral is to not cut the ropes even if there is good powder. Follow and obey all signs and boundaries. If you think you might be lost just stop and call ski patrol. We learned the hard way and are very thankful towards the two ski patrolmen that saved us.
