Letters to the editor
The students in my 4/5 unit study class have been learning about water conservation. They have written some letters to try to make people aware of ways water is being wasted and ways to conserve water. It has become apparent that this year will be another drought year in Colorado. Although we usually have plenty of water to use in the Eagle River Valley, we need to be thinking of the folks downstream of us! Thank you, Vail Daily, for always printing such good material about water issues, and for your ad campaign to promote water conservation.

Dear Editor,
I want to tell you not to flush the toilet too much. So I want to tell you to put that in the newspaper because we learn at school about drought. If you flush the toilet, you dump 5 gallons of water to the trash.

Dear Editor,
In my school we waste lots of water by turning it on when we are not using it. We need to be careful and turn the water off. It is important to conserve the water so we can have enough water to drink.

Dear Editor,
I noticed that when you water the grass during the day the water will evaporate. The best time to water the grass is at night.

Dear Editor,
In school I learned about droughts and I would like for people not to waste water. These are ways you could waste water. One way is flushing your toilet when it is not necessary, water your plants in the day time, and leave the faucet on when you are brushing your teeth. I would like if people don’t do any of these ways to waste water because there is a drought happening in Colorado.

Dear Editor,
In our school kids are letting the water run while washing their hands. This is a problem to our school because we will not have water to drink. So please tell kids to stop wasting water.

Dear Editor,
I want to tell children not to play with the toilet. It is not good because it wastes water. Every time the water goes down the toilet, 5 gallons get wasted. We need to conserve water to drink. We don’t have too much water so we need to conserve.

Dear Editor,
I want to tell you about people flushing the toilet too often. Did you know that your toilet has 5 gallons of water in it, each time you flush the toilet you lose a lot of water. Thank you for reading my letter.

Dear Editor,
Our school doesn’t listen to us; they flush the toilet when it’s not necessary. We put posters up but you can help us by putting an ad in the newspaper. It is important to conserve water because we need water to drink.

Dear Editor,
This is what I learn about droughts. Well some states have a lot of droughts. And it can damage lakes, fishes can die and people can’t cook or many more things. You can’t flush the toilet only when necessary in order to save water.

Dear Editor,
You should tell people to turn off the sink when they are brushing their teeth or doing something else. When you don’t need the water and the sink is turned on how about turning it off so we don’t waste water. We need water to stay healthy. Even pets need it. When your hot you could need water. Most importantly farmers need water to plant.
