Letters: Vail Pass ride was memorable

Shouldn’t need Spanish
Matt Terrell’s article “Spanish helps English” was the straw that broke the camel’s back for me.
I’m so tired of being told “we,” the U.S. citizen, need to learn Spanish. I’m confused, last I knew, English was the official language here in the United States. How about if the Hispanics (both legal and illegal) learn English? Now there’s a new concept!
Maybe then the Colorado taxpayer would be able to send their children to public schools rather than having to pay for private schools, because the public school teachers don’t have time to teach anything other than English to the non-English-speaking students, leaving the English-speaking student sitting at their desk twiddling their thumbs.
Great bike trip
We had the opportunity to visit the Beaver Creek and Vail areas during the second week of August, during which we had the opportunity to do business with Charter Sports Bike Rental.
On Aug. 17 we biked down Vail Pass. It was a wonderful experience! Part of what made it so good was our driver and arranger, Scott Biehl. Our family was impressed with his friendly approach, courtesy, and his desire to ensure safety of each of the nine individuals on our trip by checking and adjusting the bikes before we departed. He also offered to take photos of each party that wanted one.
I highly recommend the Vail Pass trip, and when you go to Charter Bike Rental at the Marriott Hotel in Vail, ask for Scott Biehl.
