Libertarians meet in Denver to nominate candidate
DENVER, Colorado ” More than 900 delegates to the Libertarian Party’s National Convention are meeting to nominate their candidate for president of the United States.
The Party has 14 candidates who are running for the top political job and eight of them are giving nominating speeches. Election results are expected Sunday afternoon.
Among the candidates for president are former Georgia congressman Bob Barr, who left the GOP in 2006 over what he called bloated spending and civil liberties intrusions by the Bush administration, and Mike Gravel, a former senator from Alaska who recently dropped out of the Democratic presidential race.
The Libertarian Party is the third-largest in the country with 250,000 registered members.
