License plate leads to man in woods in Eagle

Eagle Valley Enterprise staff report
Eagle, CO Colorado

EAGLE, Colorado ” A woman got in trouble on April 20 for driving a car with a fictitious license plate in Eagle, and a man refused to come out of the woods to accept a restraining order she had requested against him.

Earlier that night police visited an Eagle home looking for a man they believed drove a black Jeep or a white Toyota Tercel. Police didn’t find the man, but they did spot a woman driving by the home in what looked like a white Toyota Tercel.

When police ran the car’s license plate, it matched the one belonging to a black Jeep Cherokee. Police issued the woman a summons for displaying fictitious license plates and operating an uninsured car. Asked why she kept driving by the Eagle house, the woman said she thought police were issuing the man who lived there a restraining order.

Police determined there was, in fact, a restraining order that needed to be delivered to the man but the man would not come out of hiding in the hills to receive it. The man later agreed to pick up the document at the sheriff’s office.
