VAIL VALLEY, Colorado “-The Life Long Learning Collaborative of the Vail Valley, or L3, is hosting its inaugural event Friday night at the Westin Riverfront in Avon, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Guest speakers Terry Minger and Chris Gates will be speaking about life long learning, and the event includes hors d’oeuvres and information about L3.

Rob LeVine and Fraidy Aber from the Vail Symposium and John Horan-Kates and Evie Rosen-Budd of the Vail Leadership Institute, over lunch in January of 2008, came up with the idea of a valleywide collaborative of organizations that sponsor educational programming for adults.

Two months later, 20 organizations gathered at the Antlers of Vail to introduce themselves and their organizations.

There was a mutual recognition about the importance of not only ongoing learning, but about helping to make communities and the world stronger through good stewardship and activism.

Organizations have been meeting for more than a year now at the Economic Council of Eagle Valley’s conference facility. L3 provides places for citizens and visitors to find a comprehensive listing of resources for adult educational programming, primarily through the Web site at http://www.l3vailvalley.org, newspapers and member organization literature.

The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. Vail Valley Music Festival, Colorado Mountain College, Eagle Valley Alliance for Sustainability, Eagle Valley Library District, Economic Council of Eagle County, Gore Range Natural Science School, Samaritan Counseling Center, Vail Public Library, Vail Leadership Institute and the Vail Symposium.
