Lionel Martinez, 1973-2009
God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. Therefore, he put his arms around you and whispered, “Come with me.” With tearful eyes, we watched you suffer and fade away. Although, we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating. Hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove he only takes the best. It’s lonesome here without you. We miss you more each day. Since you have left, life doesn’t seem the same. When days are sad, lonely and everything goes wrong, I seem to hear you whisper, “Cheer up and carry on.” Each time we see your picture, you seem to smile and say, “Don’t cry, I am in God’s keeping, We’ll meet again some day.”To The Martinez Family: Dave Martinez, father; Catherine Martinez, mother; Dave Jr. & James Martinez, siblings. Extended family; Susan, Mario, Alex, Andrew, Joseph Ramirez, Ely Padilla and Padilla family. To my son: Although, you’re too young to understand my passing, Lyly loves you and wants you to know that I will always be in your heart if you need someone to talk too. I want to let you know that, I’m sorry I left you so early in your beautiful life. There are so many things I want to show you and teach you, but the Lord Almighty has called my name. Some day you’ll understand.Services are at 2 p.m., Saturday, at St. Patrick’s Church in Minturn, followed by a reception in the Spirit Center, also in Minturn.Donations are being accepted at the Phillip 66 gas station, in Avon, also at the First Bank of Avon under Lionel Martinez Memorial Fund.
