Lionshead project resumes this week

Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado – After a winter break, FCI Constructions, Inc., the general contractor for Phase 1 of the LionsHead Transit Center, is returning to the construction site this week to resume work on the project with completion scheduled for the end of June. Construction along the north side of the parking structure includes a new passenger waiting area, restrooms and a pull-off for ECO buses on the South Frontage Road

Construction materials are being staged on the east side of the charter bus lot. Due to the amount of snow on the site, the contractor has decided to keep access closed from the frontage road to allow the snow to melt and the ground to dry. Later in the season, single lane closures of the frontage road will be required to accommodate installation of new signs and landscaping.-

Phase II of the project, pending contractor award on April 5, will include construction of a transit welcome center to replace the current auxiliary building on the south side of the parking structure to include restrooms and new guest services and amenities. If awarded, this project is scheduled to begin on April 25 and be completed by Dec. 15.
